sm-g935v SIM locked? Will flashing a new ROM fix it?

I have a sm-g935v that's locked to a Verizon SIM, but I want to use it in a GSM network. Can I flash a stock sm-g935v ROM and reset it to use a new SIM?

I understood that the phone locks to the first SIM installed.

Can anyone help me out?

Please. I appreciate any tips/suggestions.
